Kolejny w mojej szafie projekt Norah Gaughan, która moim zdaniem jest mistrzynią warkoczy - efekt za każdym razem jest piękny a wzór w robocie jest przyjazny, czytelny i łatwo zapamiętywalny. Sama nie wiem, kiedy skończyłam korpus, tak szybko mi to poszło! Niestety, jak może pamiętacie, zabrakło mi włóczki i czekałam 8 dni na dostawę z Turcji, więc dorobienie dolnego ściągacza i rękawów, a potem blokowanie trochę się przeciągnęło.

The next Norah Gaughan's design in my projects and in my opinion she truly is the queen of cables. Every time the result is beautiful and clean, the cable pattern is easy to memorise and quick to knit. Unfortunately as you may remember I ran out of yarn just after I almost finished the body and I had to wait 8 days for the new yarn to come to me from Turkey, so finishing took me some time.
Podoba mi się sposób dziergania - najpierw nabieramy oczka prowizorycznie na sam warkocz, dziergamy 12 cm, wracamy do początku i dziergamy 12 cm w drugą stronę i już mamy kawałek kołnierza na karku. Teraz nabieramy oczka wzdłuż brzegu warkocza na plecy, dodajemy markery na przodu i rękawy, i już dalej lecimy po prostej: oczka warkoczowego wzoru, prawymi rękawy i korpus dodając oczka w co drugim rzędzie, znowu warkoczowy wzór. Genialna prostota konstrukcji!
I like the way this cardigan is constructed - you start with a provisional cast-on just for the cable pattern and work 12 cm, then you go back to the cast-on and work 12 cm of cable in the other direction. Now you have the back of the neck's collar ready. You pick up stitches for the sleeves and back along one side of the collar, place the markers and now it all gets very easy - you work the cable stitches first, the knit the front/sleeve/back/sleeve/front stitches adding stitches respectively in each second row, and you finish with the second cable part. Simple and perfect!
Kiedy oglądałam Merle na Ravelry to zauważyłam, że w większości powstały jej wersje bardzo luźne. U mnie jak zwykle, czyli przy ciele, ja chyba nie umiem odważnie dodać oczek i wydziergać czegoś oversize... Za to wymyśliłam sobie zapięcie - rozważałam zostawienie przodu bez zapięcia ale potem coś mi chodziło po głowie, guziki i suwak nie wchodziły w grę, i nagle doznałam olśnienia i wszyłam metalowe haftki (koniki)! Są ukryte w brzegach przodów i kiedy sweter nie jest zapięty to są w zasadzie niewidoczne. Mogę zapiąć wszystkie (są jeszcze poniżej paska), albo kilka, albo jeden tuż pod szyją, bardzo wygodna sprawa. *^v^*
When I looked at Merle by other knitters I noticed people usually went for loose versions. Mine is as always - quite fitted, I just seem to not be able to add a few more stitches and make something oversized... I added the fastening method though - first I wanted to leave it as it was, then I wanted something but buttons nor zipper were out of the question, and then the epiphany moment came - metal hooks and eyes! They're hidden in the front’s edges and practically invisible, I can fasten all of them (they're also under the belt/waist line), some of them or maybe only the top one, very practical. *^v^*
Włóczka to Ice Yarns Wool Deluxe Color z Yarn Paradise, zużyłam łącznie około 550 g na drutach 4 mm. Jak widać taki nietypowy dla mnie odcień beżowej szarości, ale mnie naszło i taki wrzuciłam do koszyka, i nie żałuję, bo bardzo mi się ten kolor podoba. *^v^* Włóczka w trakcie roboty była trochę szorstka, ale po namoczeniu zrobiła się mięciutka i wcale nie gryzie. Po zblokowaniu na mokro sweter nieco rozciągnął się w pionie. Kuszą mnie inne kolory tej włóczki, chętnie zrobiłabym z niej coś jeszcze tym bardziej, że jest przyjemnie cieplutka i bardzo dobra do warkoczy.
The yarn I used is Ice Yarns Wool Deluxe Color bought from Yarn Paradise, I used around 550 g on 4 mm needles. The colour is very odd for me, the beige light grey, but I somehow loved it when I looked at it on the web page and don't regret buying it. *^v^* While being knit the yarn was a bit rough but then after wet blocking it got very soft, the cardigan stretched a bit downwards. I've been thinking about buying more colours of that yarn, it's soft, warm and perfect for the cables.

Aktualnie na drutach nowy projekt wielokolorowy, ale miałam falstart bo robię go od góry czyli odwrotnie niż we wzorze i nie zadałam sobie trudu, żeby porządnie przeliczyć oczka. Lenistwo się zemściło i w efekcie żakardowy wzór trochę mi się rozjechał, nie podoba mi się to i będę pruć.
Poza tym, kupiłam piękne kraty na nowe spodnie dla Roberta i oczywiście na sukienki, więc możecie się spodziewać kolejnych uszytków bardzo niebawem! *^O^*
Now I have a new sweater on my needles, a fair isle project but I have to do some frogging. I decided to knit it top-down and didn't bother to calculate the stitches properly, and now I have the colour pattern crooked here and there, I don't like it so I'm going to count the stitches and start again.As for the sewing, I bought some new plaid fabrics for Robert's trousers and my dresses for Autumn and Winter, so please drop by soon for the new sewing projects! *^O^*
