It turns out when you start doing some work there's no time for any melancholies anymore! (It doesn't concern cats because cats rarely do any work. And when they get melancholic, they're easily disorientated by the call for some snacks or a wine cork or a walnut to play with! *^w^*)
Last Sunday after a few days I sat down to the sewing machine and first I mended Robert's trousers because he got a hole in them, and then I stitched the dress I had already cut for some time. I started to think about using those beautiful jerseys thin and thick to sew not only dresses but trousers and sweatshirts too. I wear them often during the cold months. I also received the fabric for the new coat (part of it, I'm going to join wool and quilted fabric).
On Monday I ordered the yarn for the new sweater - it will be Watayuki. *^v^* I started to knit this one before and I even almost finished it, but... I chose the yarn that was way too thin so it turned out too fitted. Also, cold shades of violet are so not for me! And the third point - I left it for a few months in a box somewhere on the shelf and it was eaten by the moths!!! So that was short life of my first Watayuki that was ended even before it began. But I bought Drops Alpaca in light nougat and I'm going to combine it with Drops Brushed Silk Alpaca in light and dark beige, it'll be mixed. Of course just when the yarn came it turned out that I lost my 5mm knitting needles in the house and had to order a new pair... No comments! *^W^*
What's more, for a long time now I've been thinking about knitting a shawl. I bought the pattern I've had in my Ravelry shopping basket for a while - Lin-Lin, I found the yarn I wanted to use and just when I decided to buy it... it was gone from the shop!!! Lesson learned? If you want to get the hand-dyed yarn made in small batches and you chose the exact skeins, just buy them before somebody else does. *^w^* Good I found another yarn and my shawl will be in the colour of wine and More Wine!
Przy okazji dostałam w prezencie najsłodsze nożyczki jakie wymyślono - maciupkie i w kształcie kota!!! *^0^*~~~
I also received the sweetest gift - the smallest cat-shaped scissors!!! *^0^*~~~
On Tuesday I bought 3 kilos of plums for jam! I removed the pits and slowly fried them for a few hours over the next three days, on the smallest fire, stirring often. In the end I poured the hot jam into jars, closed them and put into the oven to make sure they'll close (20 minutes in 120 C).
I remembered that I wanted to make pickled beans for Winter, so I bought 1 kilo of beans, washed them, cut both ends and blanched them for 5 minutes, and then put them into jars and added the marinade: 1 l water, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp vinegar (boiled, then cooled down). I pasteurised the jars in the oven as with the jams. One kilo filled four half-litre jars. I still have four such jars left, maybe I should buy more green beans?
And I bought the peppers for the first batch of lecso - it will go into the jars and in the late Autumn and Winter it will be very nice to find them in the pantry! I cook it like that - peppers, tomatoes, onions, spices, no space fillers like zucchini or Summer squash.
On Tuesday we had guests - Lena and Wojtek came to talk about our potential holiday trip. Because it's polite to feed the guests, I made Korean japchae and a brownie with salted caramel for dessert. On should make the best of this crazy 2020 year! *^0^*
Zrobiłam też pierwszą jesienną zupę-krem z dyni (muszkatołowej). (podsmażona cebula, dynia, 2 szkl. wody, 2 ł pasty miso, sól, pieprz)
I also made the first Autumn pumpkin soup. (fried onion, pumpkin, 2 cups of water, 2 Tbsp miso paste, salt, pepper)
We often eat Japanese food for breakfast or lunch because nothing can beat a bowl of warm salty miso soup full of veggies! ^^*~~ I started to introduce Autumn flavours, pumpkin for example. We are running out of natto so I'll be making a new batch soon, good I have the supply of dried soya beans.
So, as you can see a lot is going on here! *^o^* I somehow came to terms with Autumn already coming, I've started to wear sweaters and have been thinking about changing the duvet to the thick warm one. On Saturday we are going to friends' wedding and I may be able to shoot some quick photos of the dress I made a few weeks ago, it's both a bit for Summer and for Autumn as well, and just perfect for such occasion!
