Gruba Berta i insze inszości

On Friday afternoon it started to snow and it didn't stop until late night, so on Saturday we woke up to a beautiful sun and a Winter Wonderland outside. Immediately we took this opportunity to go for a walk and take photos of my latest knitting projects! *^O^*

Ciepło się ubrałam i wyruszyliśmy prosto w zimę!
I put on some warm clothes and we set out straight into Winter scenery!

Na śniadanie zaszliśmy do Kafelka (polecam!) a potem zrobiliśmy sobie trzykilometrowy spacer do mojej mamy, gdzie trzeba było ratować zepsuty komputer. A po drodze były takie widoki:
We had breakfast at the local cafe and then we took a three km walk to my mother's house to repair the broken computer. We passed such views on our way there:

Ducks didn't seem to notice the freezing temperature because they were fed with bread by the kids!

And we didn't get tempted by the mountain covered in snow (we don't even have a sleigh...), just carried on towards some mystery scenery...

...to take photos of my knitting!
Let's start with the thick and warm Winter pullover I called Dicke Bertha. ^^*~~

The inspiration for the stripes came from Ravello, but the shape was based on my yarn's and needles' thickness - 7 mm. I made this top down and I finished with a turtle neck. And I even lost all my notes at the end of knitting so I'd have to count everything and design it from  scratch if I wanted another wersion, duh...

Włóczki to ciuchlandowe zdobycze wełniane - Rauma Vamsegarn, Sandnes Garn Alfa i Sandnes Garn Fritidsgarn (musiałam dokupić dwa białe motki i jeden szary, na szczęście znalazłam tę włóczkę tanio w UK), druty 7 mm. *^o^*
The yarns are my second hand finds - Rauma Vamsegarn, Sandnes Garn Alfa and Sandnes Garn Fritidsgarn, I had to buy three more skeins and lucky me I managed to find them cheaply in the UK, 7 mm needles. I haven't used such thick needles in a looooong time and although working with them wasn't easy (I love the 2,5 mm sizes best), the project kept growing really fast! *^o^*

Zgłaszam ten pulower do Herbatkowej Kampanii Zwyklakowej, bo to taki mój idealny Zwyklak na surową zimę. ^^*~~
With this pullover I take part in Herbatka's Average Sweater Campaign, because it's my everyday pullover for heavy Winter. ^^*~~

When I finished the pullover I had some leftover skeins and I didn't want to keep them in my stash so I turned them into Winter hats! *^v^* The first one was made from green Sandnes Garn Alfa and a skein of red Solberg 12/4 cotton, with a underneath layer of orange wool around forehead (label missing). The bottom layer was knit, the outer layer was made in seed stitch until I ran out of yarn. I added a small "golden" coffee bean as an embelishment.

The second hat was made from the leftovers from white and grey Sandnes Garn Fritidsgarn, I also added some no-label gray yarn held double to lengthen the hat. Just like in the previous hat I added the inner layer around my forehead using some cream wool yarn from my stash (no label). I added a small cherries charm I received from MaroccanMint as an embelishment. ^^*~~

The shape of that hat is simple to make yet interesting - you cast on the number of stitches for the size of your head and knit straight for as long as you like, a few cms longer than the top of your head. Then you fold the hat in half and do a three-needle bind off. When you lay your hat flat it looks like a rectangle. Now you just take two top points of that rectangle and tie them together, and voila - there is a "handle" on the top. *^v^*

Obydwie czapki zgłaszam do akcji Asi i Justyny WZW czyli Wykorzystanie Zalegających Włóczek. ^^*~~
With those two hats I take part in Asia and Justyna's campaign Use Your Stash Yarn. Lucky me those skeins didn't linger in my stash for long! ^^*~~

It was such a day that the polar bears were like puppies! *^V^*~~~

Taka zima to ja rozumiem! *^0^*~~~ Trzymajcie się ciepło!
That's what I call Winter! *^0^*~~~ Stay warm!

Czas jesieni

Today the promised recently finished sweater but first have some cherry pie please! ~^-^~

Będąc na fali pozwyklakowej wygrzebałam zalegające mi różne motki włóczek i moje sokole oko dostrzegło, że jakoś tak pasują do siebie kolorystycznie! *^v^*
I followed the Average Pullover trend and took out some of the leftover yarns which suddenly started to match and form a new project! *^v^*

Przedstawiam Czas Jesieni.
And what's more, they match the current season. Please meet The Autumn's Time.

I used the following yarns:
- light caramel from Chai Latte (Yarn Art Cotton Soft 07)
- violet brown from Origami socks (Hamanaka Pure Wool 12)
- red currant red from Red Currant bolero (Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaka DK 2050)
- cherry red from Burgundy (Ice Yarns Pure Alpaca 33115)
- light red from I don't remember what...

The idea for such stripes came to me from Spring Lines by La Maison Rililie, but I didn't follow her instructions for the shape of the sweater. I decided to slightly peek out from my comfort zone and widened the pullover a bit from the waistline. *^v^*

No, i pierwszy raz dziergałam kieszenie, swetry z kieszeniami są super!
For the first time I made the pockets, they're so cool!

Moja szafa jest już całkiem nieźle wypełniona własnymi produkcjami, które mogę ze sobą łatwo zestawiać - swetrowi towarzyszyła spódnica z rudego aksamitu uszyta przeze mnie milion lat temu (dziesięć...) i wydziergany cztery lata temu czerwony szal.
My wardrobe is quite filled with memades now that I can mix and match easily - this pullover was accompanied by the red velvet skirt I made ten years ago and a red cowl I knitted four years ago.

This pullover looks well in full sun too! *^0^*

I didn't expect such a great weather on Sunday after the cold and gloomy Saturday in the rain, just perfect for a new sweater's photoshoot! *^v^*

Niedzielne selfie podczas obiadu w barze Vyceska niedaleko naszego domu. ^^*~~
Sunday selfie while eating lunch in a Czech beer bar close to our house. ^^*~~

Mąż obolały po wczorajszej jeździe konnej... ~^-^~
My hubby was sore after Saturday's horse riding... ~^-^~

With this pullover I joined Joanna's Use Your Leftovers knitalong. I'm very happy I found such a good use for them! *^v^*

(Wciąż z niepokojem podchodzę do kardigana Chai Latte... ^^*~~)
Also, this is my contribution to Herbatka's - Tamer of Colours.
This pullover is definitely very colourful but that's not the only point here. My colour courage is the use of the light caramel, the shade new to me and the one I have to get used to (I'm still a bit hesitant as far as Chai Latte cardigan is concerned...). First I wanted to use light brown in this sweater but then I started to play with the skeins and suddenly this light beige went into its place amongst other colours. *^o^*
