Po weekendzie

Sałatka z krewetkami
- garść rozmrożonych krewetek koktajlowych (jeśli nie lubicie surowych, to można krewetki zalać wrzątkiem i zostawić na 10 minut, potem przelać zimną wodą)
- 1/2 siekanej kapusty pekińskiej
- 1 dojrzałe miękkie awokado, w kosteczkę
- kukurydza z puszki
- pół pęczka koperku, drobno posiekanego
- majonez, sól, pieprz

Coctail Shrimps salad
- a handful of frozen coctail shrimps (if you don't eat raw seafood, defrost the shrimps and leave them in boiling water for ten minutes, then rinse them with cold water)
- 1/2 chopped Chinese cabbage
- 1 chopped ripe soft avocado
- canned maize
- 1/2 bunch of dill, chopped
- mayonaise, salt, pepper

Sałatka pieczarkowa
- 0,5 kg pieczarek, obgotować, pokroić w plasterki
- dodać czerwoną fasolę z puszki
- pęczek posiekanego szczypiorku
- dwa posiekane jajka ugotowane na twardo
- majonez z musztardą

Mushroom salad
- 0,5 kg of mushrooms, cook for 10 minutes, slice
- add red beans (canned)
- a bunch of chopped chives
- two hard-boiled chopped eggs
- mayonaise+mustard


Sałatka na szybko
- garść posiekanej kapusty pekińskiej
- groszek z puszki
- posiekany koperek
- sól, pieprz, majonez

Quick salad
- a handful of chopped Chinese cabbage
- green pea (canned)
- chopped dill
- salt, pepper, mayonaise

Anek - bo jest to osoba o niesamowitych zasobach ciepła, sympatii do świata i pozytywnego myślenia / because she is a person with some incredible warmth, friendliness towards the world and positive thinking
Fiubzdziu - za nić sympatii, jaką poczułam od pierwszych wymienionych z Kasią maili / for the friendship we started to develop since the first exchanged emails
Herbatka - bo widzę w niej przykład, jak być kobietą pewną siebie i wiedzącą, czego się chce / because in her I can see the example how to be a self-confident woman who knows what she wants from life
Kalina - bo chciałabym być taka jak ona (i "ciotki"), kiedy dorosnę! *^v^* / because I want to be like her (and her friends) when I grow up! *^v^*
Kath - bo kiedy czytam jej bloga, to odzyskuję wiarę w to, że można być kreatywną pełną pasji młodą mamą (a myślałam, że młode mamy siedzą zakopane w pieluchach i zupkach ^^) / because when I read her blog I regain faith in the fact, that young mothers can be creative full of artful passions human beings (I thought they are only buried in nappies ^^)

Acha, Izuss zgadła, do czego mi te deseczki! *^v^* W tym tygodniu pokażę moje nowe prace malarskie, trochę odmienne od tego, co robiłam dotychczas.
And Izuss guess what I need the pieces of wood for! *^v^* This week I'm going to show you my new paintings, a bit different from what I've been creating so far.

Wyszydełkowałam... / I crocheted...

... dwie rybki. Albo ptaszki. Nie jestem pewna, a schemat pochodzi z japońskiej ksiażki, a ja kanji nie czytam. ^^
W każdym razie usiadłam przedwczoraj do szydełkowej wprawki, bo okazuje się, że nieco zapomniałam, jak się je obsługuje i mam dwie rybki, które wypchałam watą i nasączyłam olejkiem eterycznym, wiszą sobie i pachną. *^v^*
... two fishes. Or birds. I'm not sure and the chart comes from the Japanese magazine and I don't read kanji. ^^
Anyway, on Monday night I crocheted those two for some practice, then I stuffed them with some cotton wool and poured some essential oils on them, and now they hang and smell lovely. *^v^*

Nie jest to może arcydzieło sztuki szydełkowania (tak a propos, widziałyście prace artystki Joany Vasconcelos? =^v^=), ale musiałam odreagować cotygodniową awanturę u mojej mamy (jak zwykle o to samo - o dziecko, no, bo teraz będziemy mieć trzy pokoje, więc musimy mieć wreszcie potomstwo, wrrrr...) i potrzebowałam szybkiej pocieszajki, szybkiego przyjemnego rezultatu. Rybko-ptaszki uspokoiły moje nerwy, i niewykluczone, że staną się zaczątkiem nowego rozdziału w moim kreatywnym życiu pod tytułem "ozdobne przedmioty stworzone dla domu". Nigdy nie czułam potrzeby tworzenia na szydełku czy drutach dla domu, a patrząc na okno w naszej nowej kuchni od razu pomyślałam o szydełkowej zazdrostce. Stąd już prosta droga do wyszywanej makatki kuchennej z napisem "Kto mlaszcze dostanie w paszczę" albo "Home sweet home"... *^v^*
Pożyjemy, zobaczymy.
It may not be the ultimate crocheted work (btw, have you seen the works of Joana Vasconcelos? =^v^=), but I desperately needed to let the steam go after the weekly quarrell with my mother (about having a baby, of course, now when we have two bedrooms, we are obliged to finally have a child, wrrrr.....), so I needed a quick and pleasant project. Fishy-birds fullfilled that need perfectly. They may be the first project from the absolutely new line of craft items I'd call "decorative things for my home". I never wanted to knit or crochet anything for my home but looking at the window in our to-be kitchen immediately thought about the crocheted curtain. It's a small step from there to an embroidered napkin with "Home sweet home" on it... *^v^*

Fiubzdziu i Agnes B. zaprosiły mnie do zabawy w wyliczenie 7 informacji o sobie. Już tyle o mnie wiecie, że chyba nie będzie żadnych niespodzianek, ale oto, co mi przyszło do głowy:
Fiubzdziu and Agnes B. invited me to list 7 things about myself. You know so many things about me already that I won't be selling any news this time, but here we go:

1. uwielbiam kwaśne smaki - najkwaśniejsze żelki, ryby marynowane, grzybki i korniszony, dajcie mi czekoladę i śledzia, wiadomo, co wybiorę! ^^
I love sour tastes - the most sour jellies, pickled fish, mushrooms and cucumbers, give me a choice between a bar of chocolate and the pickled herring - it's obvious what I'm going to choose! *^v^*

2. moim najbardziej rozwiniętym zmysłem jest dotyk a najbardziej potrzebną częścią ciała ręce - dotykam wszystkich powierzchni i chłonę ich odczucia, stąd wziął się styl moich obrazów, w każdym z nich szukam interesujących powierzchni do dotykania i byłoby mi miło, gdyby odbiorcy nie tylko oglądali ale też dotykali moich prac. ^^
Touch is my most developed sense and I would be most unhappy without my hands - I touch every surface and take in all the feelings they give me, hence the style of my paintings, where I look for many interesting textures and I'd be happy if people not only looked at my works but also touched them. ^^

3. odkryłam niedawno, że nie znoszę pomidora pokrojonego nożem, za to uwielbiam gryźć pomidora jak jabłko! ^^
I discovered recently that I hate the tomato cut into pieces but I love to eat it like an apple, taking bites! ^^

4. jestem wielkim śpiochem, mogę spać długo i wszędzie, i z reguły zasypiam błyskawicznie (chociaż zdarzają mi się bezsenne noce wtedy, kiedy jestem czymś bardzo podekscytowana i nie mogę uspokoić myśli).
I'm a big sleepyhead, I can sleep long and everywhere and usually I fall asleep very quickly (although I too have sleepless nights, when I'm excited about sth and I cannot calm down my thoughts).

5. jestem praworęczna, ale jest jedna rzecz, którą umiem zrobić TYLKO lewą ręką - zawiązać supełek na nitce, kiedy coś szyję! *^v^*
I am dextral, but there is one thing I can do ONLY with my left hand - to tie the knot at the end of the thread when I do some hand sewing! *^v^*

6. Jeśli z moim życiem emocjonalnym dzieje się coś złego, natychmiast zaczynam chorować fizycznie. Na przykład, nienawidziłam chodzić do przedszkola, więc przez większość mojego przedszkolnego wieku bywałam poważnie chora, rodzice zabierali mnie wtedy do dziadków, a tam następnego dnia byłam zdrowiutka jak skowronek i udawało się urwać kilka dni z pobytu w przedszkolu! ^^ I mam tak do dzisiaj.
Whenever there is anything emotionally wrong with my life I get physically ill. For example, I didn't like going to the kindergarten and I was seriously ill for most of the time so I was left home with my Grandparents and I felt better the next day! ^^ And it's like that nowadays too.

7. Lubię słońce i uwielbiam deszcz, ale nie znoszę, kiedy świeci słońce podczas opadów deszczu, dla mnie to są dwie osobne pogody i nie należy ich mieszać.
I like sunny weather and I love the rain, but I absolutely hate when there is a sun and rain at the same time.

Nie wskazuję nikogo, bo widziałam, że sporo osób już robiło tę zabawę albo zaraz zrobi.
I'm not going to tag anyone because I've seen many people have already done that or they've just been tagged.

A tak w ogóle, to nieformalnie ogłaszam grudzień - miesiącem sałatek!

Po lewej stronie - sałatka "przyniesiona" z wieczoru u Kaliny.
Składniki:
- pieczona pierś kaczki
- rucola
- pieczone pomidory w oliwie (ze słoiczka)
- suszona żurawina namoczona w rumie
- sól, pieprz, oliwa ze słoika z pomidorami, sos balsamiczny o smaku figowym
On the left - a salad I "brought" from the evening at Kalina's.
Ingredients:
- roasted duck breast
- rocket salad
- roasted tomatoes in olive (from the jar)
- dried cranberries soaked in Bacardi rum
- salt, pepper, olive oil from the jar with tomatoes, fig flavoured balsamic vinegar

Po prawej, modyfikowana letnia sałatka Herbatki, moja zimowa wersja zawiera:
- fasolę jaś, białą drobną, czerwoną
- kukurydzę
- ogórka wężowego
- pęczek natki i szczypioru
- sos: oliwa, ocet balsamiczny, łyżeczka musztardy rosyjskiej
On the right, a modified salad by Herbatka, my version includes:
- different types of beans (white, red, small and big)
- maize
- cucumber
- a bunch of parsley and chives
- dressing: olive oil, balsamic vinegar, a tsp of Russian mustard


Uprzejmie proszę o podzielenie się ze mną swoimi przepisami na sałatki, ja też obiecuję wrzucać tu kolejne przepisy, bo na pewno mam w kolejce jeszcze kilka pysznych sałatek do wypróbowania. ^^

Patterns, patterns...

I bought the October issue of the Sandra knitting magazine (which is a German mag in Polish), and I must admit I am nicely surprised again! ^^ (Last time it was September 2006). There are some really tempting designs.

I like the size and coziness of this cardigan, but it has some very simple cables, too simple for my taste, I'd knit something more elaborate here. ^^

This one has a nice waist part that differs from the upper and lower parts.

This one is a strong contender for the coral wool I bought this week! *^v^*

This one I'm knitting next month, irrespective of anything! ^^ I love it in this colour!

This one has a nice shape, fitted at the waist, with bell sleeves. In white preferably.

Very stylish, in white for me.

I have almost finished my painting for Anna, just giving it an overnight break to check whether I want to add anything to it or not, and then the coat of varnish...
I hope to take photos tomorrow or on Saturday, on Sunday is Anna's birthday and she's coming to our place for diner, so she'll receive her gift. *^v^*

I've been tagged again (oh, I love this!). ^^ This time by Kimberly, and the rules are the following: each person starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. 1. Whenever there is anything emotionally wrong with my life I get physically ill. For example, I didn't like going to the kindergarten and I was seriously ill for most of the time so I was left home with my Grandparents and I felt better the next day! ^^

2. For my culinary taste chicken as a dish could consist only of that soft cartilage tissue next to the bones, I always collect the bones from my friends plates and eat these parts that they have left.

3. Unfortunately I often act first, then think... That's why when I'm angry I shout first and then I rethink the situation and feel ashamed of my hasty reaction.

4. I always have very short nails because I feel that they are in the way when I do anything with my hands.

5. I like sunny weather and I love the rain, but I absolutely hate when there is a sun and rain at the same time.

6. I like and can eat almost anything, apart from the pumpkin dishes.

7. I am a hoarder and I find it very difficult to let go of things, because I always believe I'd find some use for them in the future...

Well, talking about letting things go - today I finally got rid of all my old unused jackets that hanged in my wardrobe since the day I left my office job.
Three years and four months ago.
Well...
It's not that I ever thought about wearing them again, at first I wanted to cut them into pieces, then I wanted to sell them and make some money, but in the end I just left them at the back of my wardrobe. They occupied the precious storage space in our tiny one-bedroom flat and finally today I just packed them into a big bag and placed it next to the garbage bin hoping that somebody else may find them useful.
(Frankly speaking they all were rather ugly, totally unflattering in style and of unpleasant fabrics, greyish and dark blue, yuk!)
Bye, bye, old office uniforms! *^v^*

The Fountain

I found this meme at Maryellen's Garrison's Garret Fiber Art, here are the rules:

- grab the nearest book and write down the name and author

- turn to page 123 in your book and go to the fifth sentence

So, I grabbed one of the books that were and will be close to me (easy to grab first! ^^) and with me forever, Lewis Carroll's 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland', page 123:

'What is the fun?' said Alice.

'Why, she,' said the Gryphon. 'It's all her fancy, that: they never executes nobody, you know. Come on!'

Last night we went to the movies and I've seen one of the most amazing films ever: 'The Fountain' with Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman. It's called sci-fi, the plot can be summed up to a few words describing the story as thousands similar to this one, but I will not do this. I'll only say that this movie is mystical and magical, it's calm and it's soothing, it's sometimes sad to the core of sadness, it reveals some truths but different for different people, it's beautiful and it's about a tree.

Which gives me some food for thought because only in the early morning on Saturday I was planting a tree - our Christmas tree which seemed to have survived 12 days in a small pot with some soil among it's roots, in a warm room, and since yesterday it was put back where it belonged, and I hope it would grow.

And in the evening we watched a movie about the tree.
